The watcher
Install and pair the browser extension that reports your X Money payments.
What it does
X Money has no API, so the only reliable record of a payment is your own X Money activity. The xnft Watcher is a Chrome extension that reads that activity while you’re signed in to x.com and reports each transaction to xnft.money, signed with a key that only your browser holds.
It’s read-only. It never sends money, never clicks, types or navigates, and never touches any other page, account or message.
Install
You need Chrome 120 or newer. During the private beta we send invited creators the extension as a folder; install it from chrome://extensions → turn on Developer mode → Load unpacked → pick the folder.
Pair it
Get a pairing code
In Studio → Watchers press Get a pairing code. You get an 8-character code (like
K7QM-2XHD), valid for 10 minutes and usable once.Enter it in the extension
Open the extension, check the server address (it’s filled in for you), enter the code and press Pair. Chrome may ask permission to reach the site — allow it.
Check it’s healthy
Within a few seconds the Watchers tab shows the device as Healthy and your checkout turns live (if nothing else is missing).
You can pair more than one watcher. A second one makes large payments confirm faster, because two devices agreeing is extra proof.
Keep it running
- Keep Chrome open with an x.com tab signed in to your X account, with X Money open.
- Don’t let the computer sleep while your drop is live.
- The watcher sends a heartbeat every 30 seconds. If none arrives for 90 seconds, your checkout pauses by itself and resumes when it’s back.
- Payments made while it was offline are picked up once the X Money activity page shows them again.
Status
| Status | Meaning | Checkout |
|---|---|---|
| Healthy | Reading your X Money activity. | Live |
| Degraded | No x.com tab open, the page can’t be read, a different X account is signed in, or your X handle changed. | Paused |
| Logged out | x.com shows you as signed out. | Paused |
| Offline | No heartbeat for 90 seconds (browser closed, computer asleep). | Paused |
What it sees and sends
- It reads only the X Money activity of the account it is paired to. Before reading anything it checks which account the x.com tab is signed in to — the handle in the account menu and the account ID in x.com’s
twidcookie — and reads nothing if it isn’t yours. - For each transaction it sends: the transaction ID, direction (in or out), the other party’s handle, the amount, the note and the time.
- It never sends your cookies, password or anything from other pages. The only thing it takes from a cookie is your numeric X account ID.
- Payments that have nothing to do with xnft.money are reduced to an ID and amount after a day.
- Each report is signed and can’t be replayed; up to 5,000 reports per hour are accepted per seller.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Code not found / expired | Codes last 10 minutes and work once. Get a new one. |
| Too many attempts | Wait 10 minutes, then try a new code. |
| Shows Offline | Open Chrome and an x.com tab with X Money; make sure the computer is awake. |
| Shows Degraded | Open X Money in an x.com tab signed in to the same account as your payout handle. |
| “Your X handle is now @…” | You renamed your X account. Sign in to xnft.money again with X; the watcher picks up the new handle by itself. |
| Shows Logged out | Sign in to x.com again. |
| A payment doesn’t appear | Reload the X Money page so the extension can read it. Still missing? Check Studio → Orders a minute later. |
| Changed computer | Pair a new watcher there, then revoke the old one in Studio → Watchers. |
