Buying an NFT

The checkout in detail: sign-in, wallet, memo code, payment and delivery.

Sign in with X

Your X handle is one of the three keys that connect a payment to your order, so you sign in before you pay. Sign-in goes through X: we receive your X account ID, handle and name — and your email if you allow X to share it — never your password, messages, followers or X Money account.

Choose a piece

Open a drop from Drops or a listed piece from a collection. The page tells you whether you can buy right now:

BadgeMeaning
Live nowCheckout is open.
ScheduledThe sale hasn’t started yet.
DeployingThe creator’s contract is still being deployed; checkout opens in a moment.
Checkout pausedThe creator isn’t ready to receive payments (for example, their watcher is offline). The page says why. Don’t pay until it’s live again.
Sold out · ClosedNo editions left, or the sale window has ended.

Limits that keep drops fair:

  • Up to 5 editions per order, and the drop can set its own per-person limit.
  • One new order per drop every 60 seconds.
  • At most 3 unpaid checkouts open at once. If you let 3 reservations expire within a day you can hold only one at a time, and after 6 checkout pauses for you for 24 hours.

Delivery wallet

Paste the address the NFT should be delivered to. It must be a plain address on the drop’s chain (Base Sepolia); name-service names like ENS aren’t supported yet. We check the format and checksum, and screen every address against sanctions lists before creating the order.

Double-check the address. It can’t be changed after checkout, and a token delivered to the wrong address can’t be recalled.

Your memo and amount

After “Get my memo code” you see three things. Together they are your payment instructions:

FieldExampleNotes
Send to@creatorThe creator’s own X Money account. Always pay this handle, never another one.
Exact amount$8.00Sometimes a cent or two more than the price — that makes your amount unique. Send exactly this.
Note (memo)XN-7F3K-Q9SPaste it in the payment note. Case and dashes don’t matter.

The edition is reserved for 30 minutes; a countdown shows the time left. You can cancel to release it. Details in memo codes.

Pay in X Money

  1. Open X Money

Use the “Open X Money” button, or open X Money yourself on the web or in the app.

  2. Send to the creator’s handle

Enter the creator’s @handle and the exact amount. Pay from the same X account you signed in with — your handle is part of the match.

  3. Paste the memo in the note

Then send. That’s the whole payment.

Watching it land

You can keep the checkout open — it updates by itself — or close it and come back from “Orders”.

StepWhat it means
Payment receivedThe creator’s watcher reported a payment that belongs to your order.
Matched to your memoThe payment passed every check. Delivery is queued.
Minting / releasingThe on-chain transaction is on its way (mints are batched every few seconds).
It’s yoursDelivered. You see the token, the X Money transaction and the on-chain transaction.

Most orders are delivered within minutes. Larger first purchases can take longer — see checks on larger purchases. The “I’ve sent the payment” button is optional: it tells us you’re waiting, but only the creator’s own payment record can complete an order.

Your orders

Orders lists every checkout with its status and receipts, and any refund waiting for your confirmation. The bell at the top shows notifications (a delivery, a refund to confirm); if X shared your email, you also get them by email and can switch that off in Account.

Gifts

  • Send a piece to someone: paste their wallet address at checkout. It goes straight to them.
  • Someone pays for you: they can pay with your memo. If they have an xnft.money account the order completes as a gift; otherwise the creator reviews it first.
