PFP collections

Sell a collection with an image and traits per token from your IPFS folder, revealed instantly or at close, and traded on OpenSea.

A PFP collection gives every token its own item: its own image, name and traits. You bring the finished collection as a folder on IPFS; xnft.money imports it, sells it for X Money and gives each collector an item at random — at mint, or all at once when the sale closes.

Your IPFS folder

Upload one metadata file per item to IPFS as a single folder (with Pinata, NFT.Storage, Filebase or your own node) and paste the folder’s address in Studio, as ipfs://<CID>/ or just the CID.

  • Files are named 0, 1, 2 … or 1, 2, 3 …, with or without .json. We detect which.
  • Each file is standard NFT metadata: name, description, image, optional animation_url and attributes (trait_type + value).
  • Images must be on IPFS (ipfs://…) or Arweave (ar://…) so they can’t change after the sale. Gateway links to an IPFS path are accepted and stored as ipfs://; other web links are refused.
  • The folder must hold exactly the number of items you enter: no gaps, no extra files. Up to 100,000 items, 64 KB per file.
  • Keep the folder and the images pinned where you uploaded them: the tokens point at them for good.

You can add a cover image for the drop page. Without one, the page previews a few items from the collection.

Import and checks

After you publish, Studio → Your drops shows the import progress. We read every file through our own IPFS gateway, check it, and compute each item’s rarity (from how rare its traits are across the whole set) and the collection’s provenance hash: a keccak-256 over the hash of every file, in order. The provenance hash is written into the contract when it deploys, so anyone can check later that the collection wasn’t changed.

If a file is missing or invalid, the import stops and tells you which one. Fix the folder and publish again with the new address.

Instant or blind

RevealWhat collectors see
InstantTheir item right after the mint. The contract draws it at random from the items nobody has yet.
Blind · reveal at closeYour cover image (or a generated placeholder) on every token during the sale. When it closes, every token is revealed at once, automatically. Best for pre-orders.

You pick one per drop. Either way you do nothing after publishing: minting, the reveal and the metadata update on marketplaces all happen by themselves. A blind drop needs an end time (it reveals earlier if it sells out).

Why the reveal is fair

For a blind collection, which token gets which item is decided by the chain after the sale, not by us or by you:

  1. Seal

When the window closes (or the collection sells out) and every paid order is minted, the sale is sealed on-chain. No token can be minted after that.
  2. Offset

The contract picks a block a few blocks later. That block’s hash — unknown when the sale was sealed — sets one random offset for the whole collection.
  3. Reveal

The contract only accepts the folder committed when it was deployed. Token #1 gets item (0 + offset), token #2 item (1 + offset), and so on. The metadata is then frozen.

We seal once the last checkouts had their time to pay: 30 minutes for the reservation plus the 2 hours late-payment grace after the close. The reveal follows within minutes. Once the sale is sealed, anyone can finish the reveal; and if xnft.money ever went away, anyone could seal the sale a week after it was due to close. The reveal never depends on us staying online.

Royalties

Set a royalty of 0–10 % when you publish. It is part of your contract (ERC-2981) and paid to your owner wallet on resales by marketplaces that support it. You own the contract, so you can change the royalty (up to 15 %) and its receiver, and the collection details, from your wallet later.

Trading on OpenSea

Every collection is a standard ERC-721 contract with collection metadata (ERC-7572 contractURI), so it appears on OpenSea and other marketplaces by itself once the first token is minted. Collectors can trade there whenever they like.

  • Claim it: sign in to OpenSea with the owner wallet you entered in Studio to edit the collection page, set its banner and links, and manage creator earnings.
  • Blind collections show the cover image until the reveal. The reveal emits the standard metadata-update event, so marketplaces refresh every token; it can take a few minutes.
  • Resales on xnft.money itself work as for every other collection — see reselling.

Limits

  • Collections launch on Base Sepolia today; Robinhood Chain and Solana are coming.
  • Items can’t be changed after publishing. To fix a mistake, publish a new drop with the corrected folder.
  • If a blind sale ends with unsold items, those items stay unassigned; the reveal still uses the full set.
